Cochin Thread!!!

So if you bred a partridge cochin to a partridge cochin that might have something els in there genes would they not always turn out looking like partridge?
2 of the same variety will produce more of the same variety. partridge rarely hides any other mutations. it's the solid color varieties that might usually.
for the patterned varieties, the only mutations that might hide would be recessive ones. but the only outcross that I can think of for partridge might be to mottled to improve type. and that mottled gene could stay hidden for generations before popping back out, as Andy found out earlier this year.

Now is that a Millie or Partridge? The wings look like Partridge?

The reason I ask is because I bought some Supposely Milles on EBAY and today they have the SAME color of wings as yours does..
I am 99% sure it is a he. :) Now I am not sure what to call him. He is from mille fleur. If anyone has an idea what he is called I would appreciate knowing. :D
He is a bantam. I forgot to tell that in my original post.

Quote: I would wait until he's done growing... my reds all had partridge type markings until they turned about 8 weeks and got the next set of feathers in. now they're all nearly solid red... many of my milles do that too. then again I have partridge-based mille fleur lines. they seem to have partridge type markings as youngsters that fade out as they grow.

like kepiru for example... before and after...
