Cochins - Am I guessing Right?

Okay, I must be doing something wrong. Mine are not nearly that big at around 2 weeks old and have hardly any feathering in.

I ordered blue too and got all splash which was 4 of them and 1 looks like it might be a mottle like the last pic but am still hoping for a black or blue one.


That is what I wanted was splashes but after researching I was hoping to get some by ordering blues. Not that it matters much only going to be able to keep 3-5 hens. Looks like I might end up with 3 hens maybe 4 from the 12 I ordered in. 2 Self Blue/Lav Cochins, 1 Blue?? Mottled Cochin and possibly 1 White Silkie. Maybe I will find a Splash some other time

I had two giant cochins hatch and got one male and one female! talk about lucky!

Where did you get the self blues from?

I got them all from Ideal. Wanted splashes but wanted the self blues too. Guess the self blues won out in the end. Just wish my little Silkies were as easy now to tell from but of the 3 I really think one is a roo and have since right after I got them. Of course it is the best looking one in the bunch but he always stands up so straight and tall.

I have an older splash hen and absolutly love her so it does not bother me that I got all splashes but I was hoping for at least one blue. Hopefully with the splashes if I set up a breeding pen for them I will get a blue somewhere.

Wish mine were splashes but thats ok still happy with my lil peeps.
