I may be in the wrong place to ask this, but am new and also new to raising chickens. do bantam cochins fly. We have silkies and wondered if cochins would pretty much stay grounded like them.

  2. I think they pretty much stay grounded, but I could be wrong.

I only have 1 and she never gets more than a few inches off the ground, if she even bothers to try. Usually she just jumps or waddles around [IMG]
  4. I have a bantam cochin rooster, and he wont stay grounded like my silkies. He does fly a little bit.

My bantam Cochins can hop up to their roost but they will not go over a fence higher than 2 ft. They were show babies so I think they are slightly spoiled.[IMG]

Thanks, have a lot to learn. Just got my baby chicks yesterday from mcm. Some didn't make the trip, and lost another last night. Hopefully the rest do ok !
