cochins

I am pretty new to cochins myself. Middle toe should have feathers. How old are they? A basketball shape is what we usually see in show quality Cochins. No leg is usually visable for all the long leg feathers. If you are getting young ones, I can't help much.

Do a search for Cochins. There was a thread a week or so ago with great photos of lots of different age cochins.

Go to www.cochinsrule.com this is the web site for the Cochins International Club and has lots of great pictures of exhibition quality cochins of many varieties. Member sites are also posted there and they have great pictures of cochin condos and cochins at different stages of maturity.
The one thing to remember about cochins is that you want roundness. A cochin should never have a concave feature. The hackle feathers (neck) should be met over the back by an arching cushion to the tail, the breast should be very full carried slightly forward and low, the wings should be carried level to the body and the cushion over the back should be the widest part of the bird. Lots of under fluff with a broad webbed feather at the end. The head should be very broad when viewed from the top and the comb should be medium size and conture to the head.
Hope that helps.
