Cockatiel gender

How do I know the gender of a cockatiel?
It depends on the color (wild type verses one of those fancy ones), and age.

Baby cockatiels first set of feathers are always female. Then they molt into their grown up feathers, and only then do the males look like males.

With wild type the males have a super bright orange cheek patch, the girls have a more dull cheek patch.

Eeeh...

I think, usually, with that color mutation that the pearls molt out on the boys... so if the two in those photos have their adult feathers, both are female.

The cockatiel that I have is a similar color, and has SO MUCH (to me) brightness in her cheek patch as well as yellow for a girl... but she is most definitely a girl. I think in this color mutation the girls are brighter than a wild colored gray girl.

Oh no, I thought they were male and female. Oh well, its better that their females rather than males. I am not sure if this is their adult feathers or not but they are around 8 months.
If they molt out the pearls and turn grey they are males split for pearl if they keep them they are females at 8 months I don't think they molted yet

As your birds are both pieds (as they have more yellow than a normal or normal pearl) you won't be able to visually tell their gender. Pied is one mutation that show no sexual dimorphism between the genders. Pearl pieds can also retain their pearls for years, slowly losing them over time. Our 3 year old pearl pied boy has finally started to lose his pearling.

You'll have to go by behaviour to figure out who is who. Girls are generally quieter and have more of a simple chirp. Boys are the show-offs and will have a broad range of noises and tunes that they will perform. Boys are the only ones who hold their wings in the shape of a heart when showing off to other birds too.
