Welcome!

My mom had a cockatiel the entire time I was growing up. His name was Ragtime Billy Peaches lol.
We called him Billy. He was perfectly happy alone.
They do need to be socialized with regularly though.
In other words, take him out every day and handle him and talk to him. Try to keep him in a room where there is some activity throughout the day (just not constant, as that can be stressful).
You need a blanket or sheet to cover his cage at night to help him sleep. Also, when he's getting really loud and you need to concentrate.
His sounds and behavior are normal for cockatiels.
If you can't afford a friend for him a mirror in his cage can be helpful.
I HIGHLY recommend getting a book about basic cockatiel information and care.
There are certain foods, and chemicals that can harm/kill them and we all need to educate ourselves about any animal we are caring for.
You should also know they can live a very long time. I've heard upwards of 60-70 years!
Get a book about Cockatiels and read it! You'll be glad for the information.
Also, find a vet in your area that will treat birds in case you need one.
He's a beautiful guy!
