Tail development has nothing to do with gender, in my experience hens have longer tail feathers at this age. Even pullets will often roughhouse at this age to try to figure out the pecking order.

I'm back. So as this bird is entering its 4th week, the comb (flat for now) is bright pink. And it's got wattles coming in that are red/pink. Isn't this a bit strange if it were a pullet? This early? Its legs are thick like a roosters but it might be the breed. In any case, I'm surprised that it has pinkish red wattles and comb at this young of an age. Thoughts?

Do you have any updated pictures? I pretty well knew my SLW "pullet" wasn't a pullet by 3 weeks. At 8 weeks there was no doubt.
