cockerel behavior-- violent toward hens?

I could tell my Roo was a Roo by the time he was 7 weeks, but he is a Mille Fleur, not Ameracauna like yours could potentially be. But he was "spurring" the other chicks from day one, had a BRIGHT red comb from 6 weeks on and started crowing at 7 weeks, LOL

I guess in your case only time will tell!

But my EE did that growling noise at me or other pullets when she was asserting dominance. She was a real bully for a while, but she has calmed down a bunch.

Oh goodness, I have a few hens that will give that "go away" growl at a lower ranking bird and they just scatter..

So fascinating to see how their pecking order works.
My milles were also quick and easy to tell the gender, man are they spunky little birds..

I just had to put this guy in a bachelor pen with two of his hatchmates, all 6 week old Serama cockerels. He has been antagonizing the little pullet he was in a cage with, and then when I put another baby in the same cage, he latched onto the side of her neck and I had to intervene. Yeah... he's been *strangled parrot* crowing for a week or more now, and he is indeed showing very very male behavior. Gah. Little perv.

So far she looks rumpless but I'm not sure if that is due to feather loss. I purchased her off of Craigslist and she is missing all the feathers on her back and bum area. She was the smallest bird when i picked her up but in just a week she has caught up to the buff Orp. Maybe she was the bullied one of the last bunch. Not at my home though, she has slowly moved up to top dog.

That little rooster reminds me of that little chicken hawk in the old Foghorn Leghorn cartoons. He looks like he is going to KILL that Coke can!

Hehehehehe :D He does have a lot of attitude, but he can also be a total cuddlebug. It's the breed... full of themselves, which is great :D

That rooster is so cute and tiny. How big will he get?
He is a Serama so he *should* get no bigger than 19 ounces, but I think he's going to be a Class A, around 12 ounces when he's mature :D

So cute, I love the tiny birds I have a sebrite and mille fleur d'uccle's and love them.. So small but such huge attitudes. They are all 4 months and I have standard breeds in there too and right now my sebrite rules the roost. I love seeing him run off a brahma

Speaking of weird cockerel behavior, I have one who goes up behind the pullets and snatches their tail feathers. All this does is make them squawk and fly away....Kind of reminds me of a 3rd grade boy pulling a girl's pigtails.
