I have a 14 week old cockerel who seems to have forgotten how to get up on the roosts. He slept on the lower “step up” perch once and can’t seem to figure out how to get up with everyone else anymore. He used to be able to. I’m thinking maybe we need to redesign the perches. Any design thoughts that might help our little dumb dumb? They are about three feet high and the “step up” one is about 1 1/2 feet up.

Check his feet for any bumbles. It may be painful for him to jump down from a height.

I also recommend lowering the top 3 roosts. The chickens should be out of the window draught at night and it looks like their heads are right in it. So, put the roosts just a bit lower so the airflow goes above their heads and they can snuggle down below it.

This is a new setup in the same coop?
Space around roosts looks tight.
Knowing size of coop in feet by feet and how many birds might help us help you.

Well actually yes we put this perch configuration in a couple of weeks ago and he was able to figure it out. We have 12 birds all together. The coop is an old trailer and is 4x10 including the hen boxes.
