Keep the Orpington rooster until he is a little bigger, then offer him for free on Craigslist. There was one for $5 around this area here for 4 months. However, people who breed need diverse stock so you might get lucky. Don't wait til he crows!

Others may want him, Buff Orpington boys are just so beautiful! I would take him but I live in CA and you live in Virginia so.. I have been trying to tame my 3 rooster chicks, they all are kinda mean. They aren't super mean but mean. I got this Cochin X Barred Rock from a lady who has way to many roosters. He was his favorite of the ones she had to give away. He is the sweetest little rooster I have ever had! He is just so nice. He never hurts anyone and doesn't mind being held. Well she lets her hens raise and hatch all the chicks and she cant hold them until they are a bit older. About 2 - 3 moths old I think is what she said. All her chickens are super sweet. This Americauna hen kept coming up to just begging to be held so I picked her up and she was the sweetest little girl. I'm not the person to ask about if you should eat him or not. I am against eating chickens so I'll stay out of that. If your neighbors are ok with you having a boy that would be great, roosters are great flock watchers so with one you may never lose a hen again!
