New chicken owner question......My 5 month old cockerel Storm is turning into a handsome guy and is not aggressive, but he is not really showing too many rooster qualities. For one he is a total glutton and dives face first into any food that is available, many times chases the hens away from the food, and makes sure that his giant backside is blocking others from joining in. So needless to say tidbitting does not happen, ever. He also does not really watch over them while they are eating, preening, or resting while free ranging.

The hens do follow him around and he is usually the first one out of the coop but that is really the only roostery thing I have noticed.

Is he a late bloomer and may develop some good rooster qualities or should this have happened already and I ended up with a dud?

What breed is your cockerel?

Not sure, he may be a cross. Probably has some Plymouth Barred Rock in him. Here are some photos. First one is about a month ago, bottom two are from last week.
