Hei Hei (white) is older so should be easier to guess, Hedwig (brown) is a few weeks younger so might be a little harder. Sexing silkies is new to me and difficult when they’re young from what I hear but I’m pretty sure I have 3 cockerels including Hei Hei and hedwig (if a male) and 4 pullets

Follow up question: if we do have 3 cockerels and 4 pullets .. are they all going to get along or do we need to rehome some of the males ...

It honestly depends on the birds. Some roos can become quite territorial. And they can have favorite hens. And not want anything to do with others and hens can literally eject the roos sperm if she doesn't like him.

Typically for most chickens its 1 rooster per 10 hens.

All breeds are different though. I'm new to silkie myself. I have 1 silkie out of 30 birds😂 I got a surprise box and I happened to get a white silkie(which my daughter has fallen in love with).

I'm thinking I will keep the little guy cus hes not much food anyway😂 I dont know if it's a he or she yet though. I read sexing silkie is hard before a year old.

Haha no they’re tiny little birds. I actually only have one with a comb and wattle which is the white one pictured so best case scenario my little brown silkie turns out to be a hen and I only end up with 1 rooster and 6 hens 😂🤞🏽
