Cockerel or pullet!?

Mom is a small single comb, barred(similar to this one) with a green/purple Iridescent feather on wing tip. Dad is mostly black white barred w wheaten neck(kind of similar to the one in the background)

Females can have at most one copy of the barring gene (only one Z chromosome), while males can have one or two copies of it (two Z chromosomes.)

Two copies of the barring gene makes the bird have more white than one copy.

I'm guessing this mystery bird is a male with two copies of the barring gene, because he looks lighter than his mother.

But there's always a chance of some modifier I don't know about, so I would prefer to give "him" a bit longer to either crow or show clearer signs of gender, before making any permanent decisions.

Please explain the gene, tell me everything you know! Lol please
So S/he's a mixed breed.

Okay, you want to know more about barring with sexlinked dilution. 2 birds with the gene bred together will create white offspring. For example are White Plymouth Rocks.

Differences of the sexes.
Males with sexlinked dilution will be completely white, but the females will look like lighter colored Plymouth Rocks.

I'm still learning about this gene myself, so this is some information I can share.
