Am I right to keep kicking him away when my Rooster attacks me? I find the boot easier than a stick when I'm already carrying watering cans or food hoppers.Thanks. Also, just to clarify, I wish all roosters were nice and that I didn't have to intervene because I don't like having to put a rooster in his place. In fact, what is really disturbing to me is when I have a sweet cockerel that I hatched from a hatching egg turn into an aggressive rooster, but I like for my family to enjoy all of our birds (I have over 80.), so I do what is necessary; however, only when I absolutely need to do so.
Also, once a rooster is trained, when he gets out of line, all I have to do is pick up the stick, and he quickly remembers.
Thing is he traps me in the coop and keeps coming back at me. He's taller than my knees so can get quite high...
I know he knows I'm scared of him which could be a problem too. My heart hammers so loud when he goes for me it's pathetic!
He's such a great Rooster in ever other way...

I'm not sure I'm brave enough to actually pin him down or handle him but if kicking back is enough to establish I'm the boss then maybe he'll settle down?
