Cockerel started crowing! And then stopped?

I have two cockerels, one about 6 months, and another just about 4 months. 6mo has been crowing for a while now, but last week I heard two distinct crows, and assumed that finally, Rory had found his voice! The crowing lasted for about three days and then. . . Nothing. The older boy, Nardole, is jumpy and still hasn't figured out 'the birds and the bees', and I have never seen even a hint of conflict between them, so I doubt there is any fighting. Rory seems perfectly happy and healthy, just. . . Silent. Anyone else experience this?

Generally this happens when a dominant rooster subordinates a lesser, but doesn't sound like that is the case here. As long as he is otherwise okay, nothing to worry about.
