Ok...I was reading in another thread that you could possibly sex a BCM at 3 weeks according to the tail feathers and shoulder feathers. I'm not positive what breed they all are because I bought a rainbow clutch to have my broody hen hatch. 6 of the 12 hatched and we lost 1 after hatching. Pretty sure the chipmonk looking one is an EE. The largest one looks to be a BCM and maybe the other black one too. Not sure about the 2 grey ones yet. The lady I bought them from had BCM, EE, Ameraucana, cream Legbar, and I can't remember the others she mentioned.Too early yet, try again in 3-4 weeks.
Tail feathers are an old wives tail but you can sex by shoulders, depending on the birds color, at about 6-8 weeks.Ok...I was reading in another thread that you could possibly sex a BCM at 3 weeks according to the tail feathers and shoulder feathers. Thanks, I'll update in a few weeks.Tail feathers are an old wives tail but you can sex by shoulders, depending on the birds color, at about 6-8 weeks.
Just posted some 6 weeks pics above. Can you tell now?Too young to tell. The earliest you could really begin to try is when mom leaves them, so at around 4 weeks (give or take, some keep their babies for longer). In reality though, you should be looking more into the 6-8 week mark
Hopefully it’s the same one!! There are a couple pics of the same chick. The solid black(pic 5 & 6 side view). The one on the feeder is a different one (pics 1 & 3 also in 6 front view). The one that looks like all of the feathers aren’t fully in yet is another (pic 4 & 7). Solid light grey in pic 5. Mottled grey in pic 2.I see several cockerels![]()
