Cockerels?

what is an EE?
EE is Easter Egger. It is any chicken that lays blue or green eggs but does not belong to a specific pure breed.

An Easter egger usually a brown laying breed mixed with ameraucana. The mixing of the two results in a wide variety of egg colors.
I would not say that is the "usual" cross, at least not in the US at the present time. Most of the US hatcheries are breeding Easter Eggers to other Easter Eggers, and many of those birds are now pure for the blue egg gene. First-generation crosses seem to be relatively rare at present, except when the hatchery is crossing to get some additional trait (Olive Eggers with darker shades of green eggs, or crests and other fancy feathering, or something like that). Or when someone has a mix of breeds in their own backyard and hatches mixed chicks.

Some EEs have a lot of Ameraucana traits, but some have a lot of Cream Legbar traits, and some have such a mix of traits they do not obviously trace back to any specific breed.
