Is coco coir good to use for quails bedding?

It will matt down faster than shavings but decays very slowly. Here, coir is more expensive than shavings.

I grow in coir. It has a tendency to hold moisture if your in a cooler part of the country. I raise quail. The mix of that stinky poop and wet enviroment could spell disaster.
