Hello, I am Cod. I have been raising chickens for the last 5 years, all Welsummers. First year, 3 pullets from a local breeder, then hatched fertilized eggs when one went broody. I figured 8 eggs would result in maybe 5 hatched, of those, 3 roos. Turned out 8 of 8 hatched and 5 were roosters. Good times.

My new neighbors have ducks, chickens and coons, apparently. That's why I'm here, to figure out what's eating the chicks next door so I can save my own.

Welcome to BYC! If it's coons, make sure your run is made of hardware cloth not chicken wire.
It's more expensive but worth it if you have coons. They can reach through chicken wire and grab birds to kill them.

Coons also can dig under your run and get in or climb over the top. Do you have the run covered. Best to run some electrified fencing around the coop and run, to persuade them to pillage somewhere age.
