Coffee chaff! I did it!

I only put down enough to cover the floor of the brooder, but then again my brooder is 5 ft by 12 ft. I haven't had trouble in my feeders, but did have it in the water. I'll be using poultry nipples soon and that will take care of the problem. Too bad it didn't' work as well for you.

A roaster is NOT a coffee shop; you'll need to find a place where they roast the beans before sending them to the various coffee shops. Check your phone book, or Google 'coffee roaster'

I have been using chaff in my coop for about 3 months........

I mix it in with the wood chips about half and half and it does smell good......can't say I have any cons as I don't

use it straight - read somewhere if it gets wet it will clump and become slick - the main drawback I have found is it floats and

goes everywhere out of the bag!!!

IF they roast the the raw coffee beans onsite then yes. But if they are JUST a coffee shop, then all you may get from them is grounds which are good for your garden. Coffee beans are greenish white color and need to be roasted to get that flavor and color. The coffee shop we go to IS a roaster too. They have the machine right there to watch the whole process and they also have a larger facility in town that roasts their coffee for distribution around the state and to all the local grocery stores.

Yeah, it is pretty "floaty", the garage is not bad though so far. The brooder I have holds it in really well. Half andf half makes sense. The weight of the piine holds it down and the chaff does it's thing too. Since chaff is free you can stretch your dollar on pine.
