On another thread, a member posted feeding their chickens coffee grounds. Is it a treat, health benefit, filler, etc.?? Our grounds go in the compost pile right now, but if it is good for the chickens, why not give it to them!?! Please give me your thoughts and/or opinions.

Thanks!

I never heard of feeding coffee grounds to chickens. We put ours in the compost tumbler, so i guess if some fall through the chickens could eat them. I wonder if there is any benefit to them eating the grounds.

JMajors....That is funny!

I'd prefer caffeine in my eggs especially for breakfast! Seriously now, it sounds like it is not a great thing to give chickens. That is why I ask even if it is a personal opinion. I'm still open for votes.

some dude asked me bout that same ,,, he asked if i fed mine coffee,,, i said nope, their hyper nuff now,, he said, well it will make them grow faster and bigger,,,, i told him i had some oceanfront property in arizona i would sell him fer a few hundred buck.

There is no way coffee grounds could be good for chickens.

#1 coffee has no real nutritional value.

#2 caffeine is bad for chickens.

My chickens don't touch the grounds I put in the compost pile, so they wouldn't eat them if I wanted them to.
