Happy Independence Day! I'm just enjoying a cup of hazelnut coffee and boy is it good! Chickens have been loving all the free rangng time at night. Also, the newbies are able to be out in the run when the hens are locked out of it.
Our yard is so dry right now that it's crunchy sounding. Normally, you can't hear a hen walking thru the grass!

Won't have any more mowing to do for a while.
Karl, sorry to hear about your troubles, hope all gets better soon.
Sissy, I hope you have a nice 4th, sounds like you will! See yas later!

I've spent today weed eating our yard and pulling down part of a fence. I am pretty tired and DIRTY. Heading to the shower and the heating pad. I think I'll make my favorite - - - a french vanilla and carmel coffee smoothie.

I don't think we are doing anything exciting for the 4th except going to bed early from HEAT Exhaustion.

We made it to Woodbrodge Va. and back. DEbs sister had a good day the day we got there and she had a good visit.We visited Sat. and left Sunday morning They took her to the Hospital that morning e are waiting to hear how it is going.My 11 year old took car eof the animals while we were gone,and did a good job. He will be a good worker I hope.

Good morning! We had a weekend of never-ending rain, and it is now finally clearing up. Of course that just means it will be hotter today, but oh well. I am leaving shortly to check out a pre-school for my son. Drinking down as much coffee as I can before leaving.

Morning chicken loving friends! Karl, I'll sit and have some coffee with you! It's gonna be a sizzler here again today. Should go to about 102. I plan on hiding inside, maybe later go for a stroll in the creek, and then right back into the house! The hens are really cookin in this heat. I'll be surprised if I don't lose any. I feel bad for our cochins, they look like they are wearing a fur coat! I wonder if I could get them down to the creek...

spent the mornig moving a shed.My brother in law gave it to me for 1/2 a hog.It will go next to the garden for tools and such.I am applying fpor my egg liscense so I can start a delivery route . Excitement never ends does it?My andelusions are ready for the barn and if it wasnt raining it would be tonight.We get somewhere around 24 eggs a day steady, and I hope to increase production with the new birds and order 50 more barred rocks also. So now we go into intense agriculture.NO just 100 birds is my real goal, so that really is a small flock compared to some.

We finally did it. Did what you ask?Well it wasn't us per say but an enteprenuer is marketing chicken wares for pet chickens and the article made front page in the wall st. journal. Chickens have a fan base other than the farm yahoo!Oh yeh they sell everything from saddles to diapers?
