Coffee's ready...

We are still getting cherry and grape tomatoes also, but they aren't that good anymore. The cold seems to be making them split and changing the taste. The kale, chard, and collar greens are slowing down, but still producing.

Picking tomatoes a little green and bringing them inside to ripen on the window sill - still good.

Good morning chicken wranglers,
Nice and balmy here this morning @ 59 high humidity and foggy. I saw 8 deer in the cut corn on the way to work his morning .
I sighted my black powder rifle in over the week en so I am ready for deer season to begin any time. I will not get any time to hunt it is all just a pipe dream , but one I truly enjoy. I ate a double yolker again this morning . I have a hen that lays mostly double yolk eggs .
She is a gem. Well all, do not work too hard .
God Bless!

Evening all,

Found a fox trying to get into the back coop this am. Chased it away of course. No gun to shoot it with. Male I think.

I had let some birds out into the fenced in yard so no way to get them back in. Started a couple of fires in the fire rings, hoping that might drive the fox away. At least not near my place.

Weed whacked between the garden beds and getting things ready to plant garlic for next year. Figured the sound would move the fox along too.

Not feeling good these days. Not sure if it's a cold or what. Sleeping in another room so DW doesn't get sick.

Apple time here Vehve. Picked at two different orchards. Got a variety to make sauce with.

What kind of apples do they have over there in Finland? We've some new varieties here that a copy righted or something like that. Cornell University has the Patent, that's it. You have to pay to grow and sell these two new varieties.

Well take care, '

Morning People,

I hope everyone was able to enjoy the last few summer days we just had. Temps are going to start dipping again soon. All the firewood is cut and split. I just want to fill up a small shed I have for emergency.

The garden is still producing, string beans, kale, greens, chard, tomatoes. I planted some garlic the other day, first time for me. I'll have to see what happens.

@rancher hicks - How was the fox? Did it have mange(sp?)? Around here it seems pretty rampant. Seems like alot have it.

@rngrbill - I was up to your old stumping grounds. At "Bill on the hill" gas station, the cost of fuel was ******************* (drum roll) $3.19/gallon. Around here it's around $3.49/gallon.

Enjoy your day

Kaj

The fox didn't stick around but I figure by size and color it was a male. I must confess to not having done my duty "marking". I've started making sure to do so and have not been letting the chickens out too often.

Strangely there have not been any rabbits around and the Ground hog hasn't been seen for days, but there are squirrels galore. I've been setting rat traps but only caught one or two. The traps have been tripped just no squirrel in it.

Mice on the other hand are plenty.
