Happy Thanksgiving!

'Tom' is in the oven scheduled to make his entrance (or is that exit?) at 3 PM. Casseroles are all set up for baking, and green beans are prepared for cooking, brown gravy mushrooms ready for thickening - I must be missing something.

'She' actually got in the kitchen yesterday while I was cooking. What was 'She' thinking?

That's the handy part about Finnish xmas ham, you can cook it the day before since it's served cold. It must not be easy to time a gigantic turkey.

vehve, the whole planning/cooking/scheduling thing is sort of fun. This is the first that I have cooked Thanksgiving in several years. Lately we've been going to our daughter's or her in-laws. Have to love the smell of a roasting turkey plus all the things to do with the carcass and leftovers.

I could eat turkey on a daily basis.

I made my first ham last christmas, it was about 22 lbs, I think I had it in the oven for maybe 13 hours. It turned out great, I cooked it on a super low heat, about 180F.

Low temperature and longer cooking time is a good rule of thumb for roasting.

I hope this finds you doing well and enjoying yourself.

What has everyone been doing lately besides eating and staying warm? We had to call off Thanksgiving here with the snow etc. The better half was happy, all the stuffing to herself

. I was able to get the turkey in by 12, done by 5:30. Actually it was nice, just the 2 of us.

Tis' the season for the shop to go nuts. It keeps me out of trouble for the most part with the better half.

Morning, Kaj.

Not much dog training dogs in the frozen snow/ice, but still have rabbits to feed and brush to cut at the beagle club. For the past two days my GS has been involved in a baseball tournament. There is a large dome here in town - contains 4 baseball fields - year round baseball. His team played five 6 inning games in two days. They ended up in 2nd place - got beat by a team from NYC. Those kids could hit! Final score was 10 to 5. GS came in as pitcher in the fourth inning and did not allow any runs, but the damage was already done. Good two days!

@sourland - Congratulations with your GS. It's got to make you proud. There is nothing like a good game. Is this little league, babe ruth? Our GD is playing t-ball. What do you do with the rabbits? Train your dogs?
