cold blooded killers

My most dominant game roo (and the prettiest) is my chickysitter. He lives in the nursery coop with over 70 chicks ranging from a few weeks to 3 months old. He scratches out food and stands over it to make sure the little ones eat. He is a better moma than some of my hens

See, our drake Sax is in mourning right now because Meade is setting and he cant be with her (he forces her off the nest) we have 3 month old ducklings, the 2 rouens I am 99% sure are female because they have loud voices and quacks coming out already, and the one smaller one I think is a mallard male because he whispers. But Sax ignores the male and attacks the 2 girls every time he can...I had to pull him off of them 2 days ago, he started pecking and hitting them right at my feet! I dont know if hes just irritable because of Meade or if hes loony!?!

My show girl roo brings food to the chicks and my BC maran roo lets the 2 month olds snuggle under him at night.

On the other hand I have been watching some of the two month old roos chase down and peck the 2 week olds - I think they need to feel in charge of something.

My roo would always scratch for food and call his girl and the babies over.

Once I was breaking up a piece of bread for the chickens. He called
everyone in for the treat. I made a point of handing him a piece and he took it in his beak, carried it a short distance and dropped it. Then he called them over to it.
