Hi All.

Our pekings and rouens are cooped up inside and I really want to let them out during the day now that they are so big(and stinky!) but we're having a cold spell here in Wisconsin. I *think* I already know the answer but thought I'd check just in case-is it too cold for them? They have access to water outside and I worry they'd get wet and then too cold. They'll be 6 weeks on wednesday. Any thoughts?

How many do you have? My daughter has 19 ranging from4-6 weeks old with one older duck outside and they are permanently outside. They have a house for night time, but during the day they range in their pen. In New Hampshire it's been in the 50-60's lately.

Where in Wisconsin are you? I'm near the Dells, and all my 5 and 6 week old ducklings are outside today. I let them have a quick bath this morning (I hauled buckets of warm water from inside to fill the pool), and then I took the pool away and set them up in a big, wire rabbit hutch in the sun. They're loving it!

mine have been outside since they were 2 weeks old, in a rabbit pen with a light, and partically enclosed so they would be warm at night, I think ducks do better outside than chicks. I just put mine outside on the ground/grass today in the nursery, a small building with a door and the light is in there so they can be warm at night also, it 61 outside right now and instead of being in the house under the light, they are laying in the grass in the sun, all 5 of them. they are almost 4 weeks old now. we will close them in the little house tonight though, being on the ground I still worry about predators.
