Cold tolerance

How well to Cornish x tolerate the cold wince they are all featherd in??

Probably better than they tolerate heat. How cold are you expecting it to get, and how old are they? Are you able to keep them dry, or will they be getting rained on? Cold rain will kill them, especially of they're just barely feathered out. If they can stay dry, they should be able to tolerate an overnight dip into the 40's. I usually get my eat birds in late summer and process in October, when they do have some nights in the 40's and occasionally below.

4 week old CXers in the tractor and calling for high 30's tonight. It was 45 last night and wet. I have heavy tarps over 3/4 of the tractor. Boys did good, no one froze. But tonight I talked myself into running the generator and putting a heat lamp in the tractor.
Just checked on them and they are nestled nicely around the lamp.

Mine are 4 wks and have been tolerating night temps in the low 40s quite well. Dry bedding and their own body warmth seems to be fine....and they are in a cattle panel coop that just has tarping on the sides but not on the end caps.
