I had heard that chickens do not lay eggs during the winter months. is this true? also how long before they start to lay eggs I heard 6 months on average. any input welcome

Many thanks

Bob

It really depends on the breed. Some do quit laying in the winter, others are actually pretty good winter layers. All can be encouraged to lay more during the winter if you supplement the short days with extra light in the hen house.

Lots of folks have chickens that take a winter vacation.
Mine lay better in the winter than they do in the summer. I do supplement light and heat.
