Cold Winters and Hot Summers

I really have no idea I am not even sure if Franny is a black or blue white crested polish I was just happy to learn that the funny fluff of feathers on her head was normal. Being completely new to chickens I was afraid that maybe she had a problem or something:plbb

Thank you for the info I think I can work through all of the minor problems and I am fully aware that it can not hold 18 chickens I only have 5 and chances are the most ill ever get would be 8. Honestly I would rather deal with the slight problems that this one has then to try and build on my self. Thank you for letting me know about the water and feeder and I think I am going to try with no heating unit a lot of people where saying that they really don't need it. I am pretty sure that i have got this under control now.Thank you for sticking with me and thank you for all the help.:D
Hey buddy, maybe you should invest in some water sealant paint and coat the coop with it....... I think those coops are prone to warping when it gets soaked and dried out, the coating might prevent it from doing that. Just thought I'd throw that in just in case you want to go that route.

Someone (actually quite a few someones) stuck with me once upon a time as well - you’ll do things that work and stick to them, and you’ll make some mistakes and learn from them! It’s all part of it.

I was actually already planning on that because I had heard that they warped. Thank you for making sure I had thought of that.

Well thank you all you guys i kind of panicked a little bit earlier because I was stressing about a coop also if you had not heard Dinner got attacked by a cat so I was stressing about him to but all is well. Thanks to you guys my babies and I will make it through this little bump in the road.

Thank you everyone! This is the 3 week mark so as today Franny, Dinner, Sweetpea, Eggbert, and Moa are all 3 weeks old

I also have that same coop from tractor supply and it is not big enough for four large hens. I use it as temporary coop for chicks before the make it to the big pen.

The biggest problem with that coop is it is SO light that I have to strap it down to keep it from blowing away in wind storms. FYI I also live in ID.

Both the ebay run(has chicken wire-not predator proof)
and TSC coop(gonna be tight for even 5 birds and other issue outlined nicely already)
are misleading.

Did you get the smaller $200 and something dollar one? Or the bigger close to $400 one? I think the thread starter is going for the bigger one.... you should tell him if it's even worth upgrading to the bigger one and if it's even that much bigger than the small one.
