So what does it mean if I got my GED? How do I know what my grade point average is??
Alls this says is my Standard Score Total is 3010 out of 4000
and Battery Average is 602 out of 800

Chances are that they may have you take some standard tests like SAT's if you have been out of school for a while. I was out of HS for 10 years and had to take my placement tests again.

Set up an appointment with someone at the Vet School -- be very direct and ask advice -- since there is such a shortage of large-animal and/or specialist vets, there may be some scholarships, grant money, etc. that will help out ---
You should take your time and make a complete list of your questions --

(I grew up in Athens, my dad was a UGA professor and my brother-in-law graduated from vet school there -- :)

You sound like an amazing young woman --- :)

Generally speaking....

Once you have some credits your highschool GPA doesn't matter. I'd take a few general ed classes at the city college, (pick something easy for you) get a few A's and then transferr with that new GPA. Ask exactly what classes will transferr, take those at the cheaper college, and transfer over with a smaller bill.

Well I think first things should come first.
SAT and/or ACT needs to be taken before I talk to anyone at UGA.
I dont want to get snubbed for being a single mother with a GED. I want something I can take in there and get their attention with.

I got my GED back in 2006. Im afraid I wont be all up to date on everything. Do they offer classes for these tests that I dont have to pay for like I would if I were to go to Sylvan?
How hard are they in comparison to the GED testing?

i think the SAT "requirements" have gone up some since i was there. when i got in they wanted a 1200. find out what the requirements are for getting into the school you want to transfer from and then take some classes there, make good grades, and then transfer over. just make sure the classes you take are going to actually transfer.

probably not. if you are there for like 2 years..

i have friends who couldnt get accepted to UGA out of highschool who went to 2-year colleges like Athens Tech, Truett-McConnell, ABAC etc. if they can do it anybody can.

(these were people who didnt even make good grades in highschool.. i know for a fact they got no where near 1200 on SATs)

We can all have our opinions and our experiences at other times or at other places. I still think you should talk to them and see what they look at and what they require. Different schools are different. I also agree with Saddina. Get your cheaper courses local if you can.

You notice we are all pulling for you!!!
