Georgia my CW started sitting in a nest-like depression in the coop shavings this morning. I didn't think too much of it. An hour later she was still there. (Some of mine like to take their sweet time laying, so again, I didn't start worrying.) After the second hour, I shooed her away and expected to find an egg. There wasn't one.

She went right outside the coop door and laid down in the shade. (It is 81* here today.) I put fresh water and some food near her, but she wasn't interested. She didn't seem lethargic, just like she wanted to sit still. The whole flock went off free-ranging and left her there, and she still didn't move.

Hours later, she now seems quite lethargic. She did lay a small egg outside, and moved a bit. Now her breathing is labored, and she keeps closing her eyes. Any thoughts? Remedies I could try? My poor girl...

Georgia was hatched on 10/1/10.

Thanks for any help!!!

I'm so sorry......chickens are very good at hiding sickness until they are quite ill but that doesn't make the loss any easier.

Take care

Thanks you guys... knowing there are others who care makes it easier to handle!
