Color and sex question

Hi! This is my first post, but I've been reading you for a while.

Is there someone who recognise this Japanese quail color? And if so, is it a hen or a ro?
It is 5 weeks old now, and I would hope it is feather sexable.

It's not feather sexable, I'm afraid. If I had to guess, based on the face markings, it might be a hen, but there's no certainty with this colour.

I'm not great with colours. I would say grau fee, but there's too much brown in it. I have a few like that one too. It's like a cross between grau fee and rosetta.

That makes sense, then. The SSC has other genetics in there in order to keep them healthy. If you breed SSC to SSC too much, you end up with a low hatch rate, blind albino chicks, or other deformities.

Whether a colour is worth keeping or not depends on what you like. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer to that one.
