Color changes

Our Rouen drake has some color changing going on. He's just over a year old. In the picture you can see the lighter color coming in around his lower beak, a few speckles near his upper beak and above his eye. What doesn't show up in the photo is around his eyes is turning from the emerald green to what appears to be black.

Is this normal or should I be concerned? Is he molting? I should mention he and our female are the first and only ducks we have had.

It's Probly a combination of aging + molting. I would not worry unless you start seeing other symptoms along with feather changes. Looks pretty normal to me.

Very normal. He's a pretty boy.

This is one of my mallard drakes last June, beginning his first molt. Ever seen a duck on a kayak? LOL
