Color Help Needed for Color Dummy!

Could someone look at Kuntrygirl's peas In post number 477 in the thread below and in *very *simple terms tell me how she got three white chicks from them? I see that one boy has a white throat patch and one hen has white flights...

Thanks,

For a peachick to look white , both parents need to carry at least one coyt of white gene. This white looking chick carrys two copies of white gene, deriving one copy from each parent. This chick may derive other genes also. But two white genes together mask all other color or pattern genes.

So if the male with the white patch mates with the female with the white flights they can produce a white chick?

All depends on the adult birds parents, if she knows where she got them from the breeder could tell her more. But looking at the pictures, the second picture of the male has white on the throat which means he has white in him and the female has white feathers which means she too has white in her.

She got three white chicks from four eggs, just trying to wrap my brain around this, lol. Pretty good odds I would have to say...

Only if the white flights in one parent and white throat patch in another are due to the PRESENCE of a white gene. Some times peafowl that are dark pied ( two copies of pied gene in one bird ),,white eyed ( one or two copied of white eye gene )may also show white flights and throat patch.. In such situations, white chicks are NOT produced

Okay, so let's pretend that we have just two birds, one with a white patch and the other with white flights and these two birds produce white chicks... That means that neither one is dark pied, but both have white relatives? Sorry, this is very confusing for me!

That's why I'm asking all these questions! Just trying to learn... Horse colors are sooooooooooo much easier!

I took this off Leggs Peafowl page:

India Blue to White produces all India Blue split to White. These birds will show white feathers in the flights and/or throat latch (and these chicks produce the following below)

India Blue split White to India Blue split White produces 25% White; 50% India Blue split White and 25% India Blue (gives you white chicks)

India Blue Pied to India Blue Pied produce 25% White, 50% India Blue Pied and 25% India Blue Dark Pied. These Dark Pied birds are solid colored with White throat latches and or White flights (her birds are not pieds but could be split to pied but not sure if you will get white chicks)

India Blue Pied to India Blue Dark Pied produce 50% India Blue Pied and 50% India Blue Dark Pied (So no white chicks with this pairing so we rule it out)

If any of the parents is carrying a pied gene , you will get pied chicks also. Example Indiablue pied ( BB, T,pd ) x Indiablue pied = 1) white (TT) BB ) 2)

pied, ( T,pd , BB) 3) darkpied ( pd, pd, BB )- 3 different kinds of chicks. Yes neither of your birds are dark pied.. If any one is dark pied you do not get white chicks but you will get pied chicks since the other parent got a white gene. For a bird to be pied ( T,pd ) , one white gene from one parent and one pied gene from another
