Alright i am still a relative newbie to ducks. I have had my first ducks for almost a year now. I got them as ducklings from a woman who admittedly did not know much about ducks but had somehow stumbled upon a rescue of a bunch that she was trying to rehome. I was looking for pekins, and she told me what i was getting were pekins. As they became more feathered it started becoming more apparent that ones beak was lighter, almost a light/baby/blush pink rather than orange. At the time i googled and could not find the reason so i simply dropped it. Flash forward to me hatching a few eggs a couple weeks ago between my pekin female and what i thought was my pekin male. One of the ducklings has a lighter beak while the other two have the classic orange beak. Again i wondered why. I stumbled upon a post on here the other day that a white duck with a lighter beak is a white layer!! I read white layers are a bit smaller than pekins and my boy is 7.5 lbs. Im thinking hes a white layer! Anyone?

Here's the thread, in case it's helpful (there are duckling pics):

Both are very cute!
