Color Question: Platinum vs. Lavender

What's the difference between the two? From pics I've seen, they look pretty similar. Any pics for visual comparisons would be appreciated

They are totally different genetically. This subject and pictures I believe were address on another site The-Coop.

Lavender is a single recessive gene. lav/lav that needs two copies of it to be express, it will turn a self black bird into a self lavender bird

Platinum Blue is the combination of two dominant gene but in heterozygous form(Only one copy of each gene). Blue(Bl/bl+) being one and Dun(I^D/i+) being the second

and Opal is believe to be an allele of recessive white or a mutation of it.

some times you can breed for light blues also which is just Blue(Bl/bl+) with the absence of melanizers
