Blue Splash cochin x Partridge cochin = Blue with red/brown specks bleeding through

So if i take the F1 cochin Roo x Partridge cochin hens will that cross give me Blue partridge or what possible colorations ?

Another question Can you use a partridge to acheive lemon blue coloring ?

Fay

Hey Fay,
using Henk's calculator, breeding the F1 male back to a partridge female, this is what you can expect. If I can make this link work.

As far as lemon blue I don't know the genetics involved. Although Rareroo and I did once discuss a photo of one on here that we suspected might be a variation of blue buff columbian, or splash blue buff columbian.

The link went back to it's base starting point. Hit "show examples" to the right of the pictures, pick the color of choice, and then hit"calculate crossing" at bottom of page for the possible outcome. If you want to breed from one of the chicks hit "continue with this male". I used the blue male first row, and the middle hen in the sixth row- multiple laced partridge brown

BIG MED that link to the calculator is great! Thank you for the link.
I sat here and looked at it for an hour.. not sure IF I learned anything. lolol
I use to learn from just trying small test hatches. It costs me about $14 to grow out a bird to HOPE to see any Red Leakage or lite eyes and other effects that are undesired.
I had a boy chick last spring from an Exhibition line Buff Orpington pullet and a Black Australorp cockerel from Mt Healthy Hatchery. The cockerel had some good traits that the Buff did not (tail). I was new to chickens, and was told that fertility MAYBE an issue with the pullet. So, I took the Australorp to the Buff pullet. Had a great Orpington type cockerel who looked like a creamy off white with charcoal smeared all over. The markings did not detour me. This cockerel is 11 lbs at 11 months old. Once I had a hen ready I threw it in with him. I took a Blue Splash to him as well. Had 2 eggs hatch. Both are Black. One does have Red Leakage and one looks like a great quality PURE Black Orp boy, who, at 3 months old, does not have any Red Leakage, his eyes are going to be dark. So, I say throw everything at em. Worse case is you get a fluffy meat bird.

I think Lemon blue is blue x birchen , but was just wondering if the partridge cross could produce one. I have Partridge but no birchens here.

Henk69 , Thank you for posting that link .

Don't thank me, thank Henk69 for making this available for us to use. I know I do every time I get on it, it is a tremendous tool and learning aid for breeders around the world. Thanks Henk
