Colorado Shooting - How horrible!

Our government like most is extremely corrupt and there is a good chance that very few elections are fair. Lest just say things are not as good as they use to be and people might one day get tired of politicians supporting dictators who like to commit genocide and taking away our fundamental rights.

"People should not fear there government, government should fear it's people." This is a very popular quote here.

Note: We are not a democracy like the rest of the world believes, we are a Republic.

Hold on a minute. A Republic can be a democracy and many are. A Constitutional Monarchy can also be a democracy.

I can see that people may soon tire of bad government in several countries but the ones that take over will be the ones with the powerful weapons. They won't be interested in fairness, only their own power.

No invading army is going to let a few people with pop guns stand in its way once the government has surrendered.
A few people?

We have the ability to arm every man woman an child in this country an are trained in gorilla warfare by our teens. Airsoft, lazertag, hunting, Americas Army(training game)

Just look at our current war. We took over a country in a matter of days with almost no loss of life on our side. The "few people with pop guns" we are still fighting years later at a cost of thousands of lives. True military power is in the people, not the standing army.

Gday Minchi, Just a couple of things............Our gun laws are very strict, we had a massacre similar to Colorao in '96.... 35 killed. As a kneejerk reaction our Govt banned all auto and semi auto's, including pump action. There was a massive "Guns Buyback" whereby all "Legally owned" guns were bought from you by the Govt. That of course left all illegal guns in the hands of the bad guys.
To purchase a little .22 you will need to obtain a letter from a farmer saying that you can shoot rabbits and fox's on his property.
Handguns can be obtained after a lot of paperwork and you MUST join a club and shoot regularly or lose your gun. Cc is almost unheard of.
I am retired of 20,000 acres and was privy to hi power centrefire rifles.
The bad guys ..... dont seem to have to much trouble getting handguns here.

The other thing.........I wish we had your 2nd amendment.

Cheers.......The Dog

I am sorry about your gun control laws, I wish all governments would learn that they only make matters worse. At least you understand why we fight so hard to keep our right to bare arms.

If there is a major shift in global power I really don't see us being on top. China and Russia have more strength and China has a much stronger economy. Although you need to account for the state mulisha, every state has a national guard presence (government) and a mulisha (civilian). They are as well trained and sometimes more trained then the Military, and often as well armed. Then you have guerrilla warfare and a good deal of the population knows how to make bombs, thanks to the internet. A civilian foe can be a force to recon with. Hear is a great example about how just one person can cause trouble..

We have many retired and out of service ex military snipers that could give any invading army hell.

We should also give credit to the limits of power that were afforded by our Constitution. Without those limits and the structure of our checks and balances system our right to bear arms would be gone a long time ago.

We are a representative government and that type of government prevents a democracy (mob rule) from telling a minority of the population that we know best. It is unique in that an individual has equal rights in most cases as a majority.

This is one of the reasons I dislike the initiative process because too many issues are being decided by mob rule just to be struck down as unconstitutional. The example that comes to mind is voting on a fragment of an issue that is constitutionally protected, they have no right to vote on something that the Constitution guarantees.

TT this is why gun laws always fail in this country.

I have noticed the typical liberal knee-jerk reaction to this horrible event by some politicians in an attempt to capitalize on the event for political gain... happens every time.

This clearly shows that our 2nd Amendment was more than owning a hunting rifle it is just as critical to the whole Constitution in theory and practicality, a sort of proving ground on the integrity of the whole document. No other country has this in thier form of Constitution... amazingly.
