Colorado Springs Colorado

Hello All!

Yet another C. Springs chicken lady here... I know it isn't the normal time for hatches, but I am hoping to find a new chick.

I currently have a flock of four girls in my yard and one "special needs" hen in my spare bedroom. Anne Bonny is an 18 month old barred rock and my newest addition. She is missing her left foot due to a raccoon attack at her previous owner's coop a few months ago and I am helping her get her strength back (so far, so good!). I'm pretty sure things won't go well introducing her to my other ladies, so I plan to build an easy-access coop for her but I know she'll need a buddy. If anyone has some young chicks available in the Colorado Springs area, I would love to hear about them!

another chicken owner in Co Springs. Have a mix flock. 1 buff orphington, 1 black australorp, 1 barred rock, 1 california white. live near union and vickers.
to lemonyme- I'm afraid no area in colorado springs is rooster friendly. you'd have to live outside city limits to have a rooster. the rule is you can have up to 10 chickens but no roosters. Though there is one of my neighbors that has a buff orphington rooster anyway, luckly it's a quiet one. The guy behind him used to have a very noisy rooster but stopped hearing it months ago after I saw some police at his house(maybe someone told on him, wouldn't be surprised lot of stuck ups around us)?

Anyway. Thanks to the drought and the chickens, and not having a flat yard we have zero grass left in our yard. and they are eating all my plants. Know of any drought tolerant plants the chickens will ignore??

I know this was posted a while ago, I am in Old Colorado City and I am always looking to meet chicken enthusiasts.

I was wrong about my earlier post about no roosters within city limits. I looks it up and the reason my neighbors have not gotten in trouble for having roosters is they don't crow as much as the neighbor hood dogs bark. Apparently crowing roosters and barking dogs are in the same category. If it crows or barks too much you can't have it. Decided to get a rooster. I got a 3month old Dark Brahma cockerel almost a week ago. Sweet little boy. Doesn't enjoy being stroked or picked up. The guy I bought him from doesn't interact with his chickens when they are young. My buff orpington accepted him right away. The other three just like to pick on him. Hoping they will accept him soon. No crowing from him yet. Hoping he will be a quiet rooster like my one neighbor has.

Some breeds are more quiet than other, but it also depends on thier personality. Hope he will be a quiet rooster so you can keep him!

We're in Divide, about 30-minutes west of Colorado Springs. Just got started with chickens this year and I'm in love!

I have a beautiful 12-week old Barnevelder cockerel hatched from a Fossil Rock Farm egg. The Breeder says her writing on the egg indicated it was from pure Johan bloodlines. We aren't zoned for roosters, and I'm forced to part with this darling boy. He's absolutely as sweet as they come and beautiful. Anyone in the Colorado Springs area interested? Just want a good home for him. You can contact me through the add in the Colorado Springs Craigslist.

I also have a couple of nice 14-week old Dominique pullets I'd be willing to sell or trade for a true Ameraucana, Dorking, Partridge Chantecler, Buckeye, or Delaware pullet.
