Some breeds are more quiet than other, but it also depends on thier personality. Hope he will be a quiet rooster so you can keep him!I was wrong about my earlier post about no roosters within city limits. I looks it up and the reason my neighbors have not gotten in trouble for having roosters is they don't crow as much as the neighbor hood dogs bark. Apparently crowing roosters and barking dogs are in the same category. If it crows or barks too much you can't have it. Decided to get a rooster. I got a 3month old Dark Brahma cockerel almost a week ago. Sweet little boy. Doesn't enjoy being stroked or picked up. The guy I bought him from doesn't interact with his chickens when they are young. My buff orpington accepted him right away. The other three just like to pick on him. Hoping they will accept him soon. No crowing from him yet. Hoping he will be a quiet rooster like my one neighbor has.
