I asked my dad he said its about 35 sqr. Ft inside. The window is just glass but I want to renovate it a little bit. I'm guessing I need to cover the window with screen to keep predictors out while its open

It looks to me to be about 6 x 4, or somewhere around that. I woud say up to 8, depending on the sizes of the hens, but probably no more than that. Is the window screened? Can you close it off during the winter, say with a piece of plexiglass? Thats what I have on all my coops.

I usually visit Ft Lupton at least twice a year for events at the rebuild fort..... The next one is in April I think, or May, for the Heritage Fair.

Nice! Ya we relocated here from Denver last April. It's nice and quiet. I haven't been to the Heritage fail. I'll have to go this year.

Thanks. Do you think 8 chickens will be enough to supply a family of 6? 2 adults 4 kids

I would say it would depend on the breed you pick and how many eggs you normally go through. A Bake-a-holic will use more than average, for instance. 3 moderate/good egg layers were good enough for my DH and I with extras to give away on occasion. I would just get some excellent egg layers and skip the fancy breeds and you should have plenty. Are you wanting all one breed or a mix for a colorful basket?
