Welcome samsr!
Pozees, looking forward to hearing how your kit build turns out, good luck!
Looking forward to chicken fest 2013, I work out of state for 2-3 weeks at a time but when I'm in town I'd be happy to help however I can.
Thanks, I am somewhere between dread and optimism right now LOL

it sounds like we might start trying for kid #4 but one of my stipulations to that is moving to a bigger house in the next 5 yrs..... it will need to be at least a 5 bedroom, 2 bath (3 would be better), decent sized yard, no hoa/agriculture and livestock zoned, have an ac installed....and hopefully be near or around loveland/fort collins area. Our place is tight right now and as the kids get bigger the small rooms, no closet space/sharing dressers just isn't going to cut it!!
If you guys hear about anything decent let me know please!!

oh, and welcome newbies

wendell, the chicken party sounds like a blast!

Sure, let me know what make and model they carry.   I too have read most of the Farmer Joe thread. Very cool!

Just got back from Big R... Every time I see someone in the chicken isle I want to tell them about BYC.. But then I realize most people aren't chicken crazy and retreat into my shell... Any way, I found out the brands they sell. They have 2 brands and they are exactly the same price: $55.99. The auto turners for these have the same price as well: 49.99. I took a picture of each box for you.

I'd tell people anyways! lol. My shell is non existant though. And quite posting pics of incubators! I can only get 4 - 5 more chickens so i can NOT, must NOT buy one to hatch a bunch of little fuzz balls!

Thanks!   Cool pics of the bators!  Hmmmm, still air.....  is that good in dry Colorado?????   I am thinking it would be better than one with a fan, but what do I know!

Fans are better overall but still air still works. Basically you have to be careful with still air because you get layers of different temps going on. One lady recommended if you are using a still air bator to get a probe style thermometer and a water weasel. Insert the prob into the weasel and keep it at the same level as the eggs and it will give you an accurate internal temp on the eggs.
