Colorado

Well I cracked 2 more 1 had a broke yolk other was definitely not fertile. That's 3 in a row from one box being not fertile. I bought 2 dozen. Both same brand both same price one box was brown in color other box was white(the carton not the eggs.). The white box has produced 3 infertile eggs. The brown box has 2 possibly fertile 1 broke yolk.

Wow! The poultry show had 503 birds entered at the Stock Show this year!! Attendance was just huge, the line of youngsters competing in showmanship was quite heartening. We'll need those youngsters to keep the hobby going. I visited & visited, just a great time with all the poultry people. I saw dennarahl & Cara (Brighton) but the crowd was too big for me to get over for a "hello"! I bet there were more BYCers I'd wished to meet.
The Colo Poultry Assoc has their first meeting Feb 9 at Fulenwiders. We'd love to have additional members and the show in Pueblo is scheduled June 15.
Lastly, if anyone in CO is interested I'm offering up my reverse trio (1 F & 2 M) of Brown Red/Lemon Blue bantam cochins for $45. Couple of rare colors, I've not seen any shown in CO before but I simply lack room to do it justice. The silkies & mille fleur cochins truly have my heart. These pics were taken early December so they've grown & colored out more but it gives you an idea.

Brown red cockerel
lemon blue cockerel (again) and the brown red pullet at right

What did I miss, because when we were at the stock show on monday, we were pretty disappointed at the amount of birds. We definitely did not see 503! Is there a time to go that's best to catch the most birds?
But on a good note, because of the stock show, we are getting 7 modern game bantam chicks and 2 black indie ducklings (they are call ducks, sooooo cute!) next week! Its my husband's birthday, so a surprise for him. ;-)

The show itself was on the bottom floor of the Expo Hall (east end of Hall of Education but south side of building). Showbirds came in by 2pm Sunday and left by 6pm Monday. Stock Show significantly cut down on poultry space on the 3rd floor where sale birds use to be offered (also no rabbits on display either). Its likely you saw the poultry display on the 3rd floor because the show area had some rows double stacked.

Shed kit arrived, I fear it is fubar. Staying home in the morning awaiting light so I can make a final determination, but it doesn't appear to me the walls are correctly framed for my plans. Truck arrived in fading light, unloaded in about 45 minutes, called to tell Guillermo I don't think it's right, am to have conversation with framer at 9 am. Really dejected. I try very hard to spend money as locally as possible, but at this time I am wishing I'd bought a kit from Lowes or Home Depot and modified as I needed to, or just hired it done. <sigh> My plan and the framed walls don't look to me, or to Bob, as if they jive. I explained it in detail - walk through doors center of each 16' wall with window above center and to the left of each door, end walls solid 12'. Framing for door in center of 12' wall piece does not butt up to an 8' wall with window in center to make a 16' wall. Not using real math anyway. We have been out with a flashlight and tape measure three times, cannot figure how they calculated this out, everything should be pretty much mirrored and it is not. Tomorrow is going to be a long day. I can work from home and have already submitted for a vacation day, feeling very fortunate that I work for a company that offers paid time off right now, and relieved that my incubator is holding true. Glad my son is coming home to help this weekend. If they make it right it will still be a weekend of heavy lifting, and if they don't it will be a weekend of a lot of extra work to make it all fit, probably some extra lumber and lost sleep (like that's new). Truly bummed out right now.
Sorry to hear this. All may not be lost, it may look better in the light. Wish I could drive down and help but....

my oldest daughter Heather got into a wreck yesterday afternoon. She is fine, only a sore nose where she hit the steering wheel. Her car however isn't fine. It's repairable, but now we are down to one running and registered vehicle. So I had to take the day off and will be going to Denver to get parts. If all goes well, we should have it drivable by tomorrow afternoon.
