Colorado

We have about 18"!! Yuck!! Of course it's still snowing at our house, so we'll end up with a bit more. I shoveled out an area in the run, so the girls can at least go outside fo a bit. They start picking on eachother when they're cooped up to long. My bantams are stuck in their coop. I was too pooped to shovel by the time I got to them. I'm sooooooo ready to be done with snow.

We have about 8 inches and some drifting. Still have light snow falling. I made attempt to go to work in Colorado Springs. Thawed out the car, chipped off the ice, finally was able to drag the gate open through the snow, got through several snow drifts, then got to HWY 24 and after about 5 miles of driving on ice decided I was crazy and turned around and went back home. Stay safe everyone. Tomorrow we will be wading through MUD.

I had fish lines all across my duck pen as a hawk deterence. They were attached to the top of the poles that held up the electric wire. Normally I can walk under the lines with plenty of room. I came home from work yesterday and the ducks were quacking thier heads off!! The lines were so coated with wet snow they were almost to the ground and were bending over the poles!

Wow. That is something. Poor little ducks. Our birds don't know what to think with this 60 degrees and sunny one day and tons of snow the next day. I opened one of the coops yesterday and the chickens were all running for the door until they saw outside and they all tried to make an immediate stop, but not soon enough and the fastest ended in the snow.

Looks like we will get a couple of nice days and then another storm tomorrow night.

Is there anyone in Colorado land that has any RIR hatching eggs for sale? My 2nd and last experience with getting shipped eggs is in the bator and so far at 7 day it looks like one out of a dozen is viable. I am trying to hatch out some birds since I need both roos and hens to start a breeding stock for Comets. I am willing to pick up. Thank you.

Welcome back

Let me know if you find anyone with quail. I didn't get anything out of my test hatch but I think it was the thermostat.
