Is she a new layer? we have noticed this on eggs from new layers, but it usually goes away after a few eggs.
They have been laying since November or so. so not too long. My cochin that is coming out of molt is the one that is laying the soft shell eggs. I figure her system needs to get back on track. Thats why I gave them some oyster shells yesterday with their ration of afternoon scratch. It looks like this hen decided to eat it all.

Holy crap. I just had some guy reply to my add on CL.. I posted a while ago looking for an incubator. He has a gqf 1502 he only wants $100 for. Thing looks brand new. My wife is REALLY going to kill me!!

Adam- be careful and consider if that incubator is worth a week on the couch. Just my 2 cents...

made the girls very happy just now. I made them some BOSS oatmeal. They are scarfing like they have never seen food before.

What do you put in your oatmeal mix? I'd like to try that with my chicks.

It was very foggy here in Peyton all day, cleared up for a bit and then rolled back in around 230. When I went to pick the girls up from school at three there was a car accident at Curtis and Falcon Hwy. Not surprising since, even with the heavy fog, half the cars didn't have their headlights on. We've been here a year and I'm continually amazed at the poor driving, no headlights in fog, or the people going fifty on ice.
Anyways, looking forward to the moisture, it is very dry out here.
