Haha! It's a RIR egg marked on the 23rd.
I had forgotten that I marked those with the breed that they came from. That egg would be from "Radar" The other RIR that I have (ROSE) is the roosters favorite. We had to order a hen saver or "chicken saddle" for her as she is starting to lose feathers from the roo always getting her.

Mail isn't delivered on Sunday but the Post Office is open. You just go to the back door, there is a buzzer. I have picked up mail on Christmas morning, and in the middle of the night, Sundays....they are open and you can pick up chicks on Sunday. Promise.

I was at Murdoch's this morning and they hadn't gotten their chicks in yet either. Actually, they said they usually get them after 10pm Saturday, but they didn't last night.

What store were you calling?

The Murdoch's in Littleton.

We set 30 eggs yesterday afternoon. one dozen eggs are spoken for for this week, but we should have another dozen available.
A month or two ago someone wanted hatching eggs, but I don't remember who it was....... PM me

I would love to hatch some on your eggs after I finish with my current batch. Hatch day is the 17th. Would you have any available around that time? Also how much are you asking for them?

Edit: I just woke up, meant to send this as a pm..

That's great you were ok with the BO. Were they a week old?

I really wanted some Marans, and if I didn't get any Marans I needed a day or two old. I wanted to put them under my broody who already had 3 chicks.

Who were you? I am a short blond. My husband had two black and white dogs.

I'm pretty sure I didnt see you by the description. I'm short, brown hair in a messy bun, in a black and white T-shirt.

Can anyone spare a couple fertilized eggs??   I live in Franktown but am willing to make a little road trip.  Thanks in advance :jumpy  Preston

I live in Strasburg, so not really close, but not really far either. I have fertile eggs that will be mutts if you don't find anything closer.

I don't think so either. There was a tall lady with three tall young girls. The girls wanted bantams for 4H. There was an older guy that I talked to for a minute. Next time I'll ask if anyone is on BYC!
How are your chicks doing?

"I also bought a smaller feeder tray to make some mash out of the crumbles. I am hoping they don't waste as much and maybe it will help with the pasty butt too."

Adam, try putting your feeder inside a deepdish pie pan or something like that to catch the stuff they scratch out of the feeder and that helps with the waste.

I have found the offenders of roo attacks in my coop. It is the set of black frizzle roosters. These guys snuggle together and sleep together...and evidentally also pick on the smaller roosters together. I found one tiny silkie rooster down this morning and my larger silkie roo with some spots on his head. I am assuming that the his size saved him as maybe he's 3.5 pounds as the other tiny silkie is just under 3. These frizzle roosters are even tinier than that but they have got to go.

So, is there much eaten on them? If someone wants a set of frizzle black roosters, let me know.

Ordinarily, I'd get all concerned about their fate but not with roosters who cannot get along nice with others.

Ideas/suggestions?
