Candled my goose babies tonight while the kiddos watched. We got to see five dancing babies, 2 duds, and one more that we couldn't tell. So there are six eggs left in the incubator, one is possibly a dud. We're two weeks in with two to go. I'm so excited for these little babies to get here!

is any one going to the bird swap tommorow at the ace hardware tommorow morening

I don't think I'll try to do quail this year, no, it's something I think about now and again but my plate is plenty full right now :)  At some point in the future I'd like to be set up to have a couple of geese too, but same as the quail, it's a thought for the future.  I will be interested in following along when you get yours, though!

We had one chick hatch on Friday and 3 more hatch today.
We still have 6 eggs that have pipped (where the chick has
broken a hole in the shell) and 4 that haven't done anything.
So far so good! These are blue and black copper marans :)

Sounds great so far! Looks like you're hatching in the 1588, have you left it dry or added water for hatching? Just curious.

Which Ace hardware?

How cool! Is brooding them much different from brooding chicks?

Pozees- I added water. Its at 65% humidity now. I am using a
glad ware container with several wash clothes in it to keep the
humidity high. I also have a canning box bottom in there too.
Each time a chick hatches I've been putting it in the box so
it can't get near my water container. Then when its really dry,
I've moved it to the brooder.

I am up to 6 chickies, with 4 more about to hatch.
I have one egg that has had a 1 centimenter hole in it for the
last 5 hours. I can see the chicks beak, but he/she is in no
hurry to get out.... what is up with that one??
