Home again from the Pueblo Swap. Plenty of sellers but not many buyers. At least half were 'just looking, I don't have the setup yet' and the others just didn't seem to see what they wanted. Hopefully next month will be better without the St Patrick's day events.

Picked up my chicks this morning. Everyone is active, drinking and eating. Sadly I had to go to work after getting them moved in. My Marans are a little smaller then the rest but the rest are Cornish x and red broilers so am not sure if those aren't just larger chicks as a rule. Cute little fluffy butts. Will post pictures later this weekend. Long day they called early this morning for pick-up. Of coarse I didn't want the chicks to hang out in the post office so called them last night to tell them to call me on arrival to get them. Elizabeth Big R also got 300 pullets in today along with ducks. They are overloaded. Some older chicks they said they were going to discount this weekend . Still trying to decide about their swap this weekend just to see all the animals!

Happy to hear they are doing well.  I couldn't pick mine up today, will be getting them tomorrow.  I ordered a Buff Brahma, a Cuckoo Maran, and a Partridge Rock.  Since I hatched my chicks last year I started them on medicated feed.  I bought a small bag but haven't opened it because I wasn't sure if they were vaccinated.  Anyone know?

Wow. I could get used to this weather. I really missed working outside. Got the compost in the gardens. The greenhouses are up, and the coop and run are cleaned and refreshed. Happy happy hens!

Thanks for the welcome. We started on the coop and run today and hopefully I can post some pictures tomorrow. DH is planning on taking some time off to make sure it is done for when the chicks are ready to move outside.

Was great to finally meet "Chick" today at the Pueblo swap, along with her husband and adorable son. As she said, lots of sellers and looky-loos, only a few buyers. I think there were more rabbits sold than chickens, actually :) One of the organizers said at the end the Sweeny's store behind which the swap was held had forgotten to post it on the door, even though the other two stores had it posted. Oh well.

Got home to watch Bob put the finishing touches on the first coat of floor paint, hurray! Weather forecast has a lot of wind the next few days, so the outside might not get painted until next weekend, or the one after, all depends on weather at this point, but once the second coat on the floor dries we can start setting up to move chicks in, thank goodness!

Gave the older pullets a few hours out in the big girl run inside their own enclosure this afternoon, they enjoyed it very much. Once we get the shed done we'll rehab the two older small coops for grow-outs and move the older pullets out to one of them inside the big girl run, and fix the dollhouse coop and anchor it for the Silkies to grow out in for a little while.

Awesome! Talked with the Big R in Monument and they said I just need to submit a formal proposal. Still some details to work out but that will be awesome! I am looking at the third Saturday of the month. :)

i will keep everyone posted!

Today was day one of coop construction! Man oh man, this is going to be a lot of work. I wish the weather was nicer, but we got the frame for the floor and one wall. Slow going but hopefully we will have it done in some decent time for the girls!
