I saw quail there last time. I saw pretty much every type of fowl/poultry that one might possibly have on a farmstead, with the exception of peafowl

Yep! Quail are very common at the swap and earlier in the year a lady had white peafowl. The 2 silkies roos i'm bringing are pet quality but have pretty nice crests. The big splash at front left has a bluish crest. The buff has his head down in the upper right corner. He has light eyes but good separation on his toes though tail feathers & wings need more shredding.

Well that was fun! We came home with four white guinea fowl, one polish (roo?) and two banty's that vaguely look like cochins but at the same time not

Gail, I need to thank you again for the Mille's. One of them has gone broody and has hatched out three chicks so far this weekend! Waiting to see if the other three will hatch or not! Yay!! Fun for all!

By the end of next summer(hopefully), we'll be living in Brighton with my MIL on her 47 acres. It'll take me less than 10 minutes to get to the swap. Doesn't it start at 6 or 7am? Right now I just can't drag my hiney out of bed and make the 25 mile drive

ColoradoChick--Great for you !!! I know you've been wanting to be out in the country to have roos. That's awesome! The swap is moving locations in March---they're gonna hold it by the American Pride Co-op store off Bromley Lane.
Hmmmm...a successful swap?....I took 7 birds....sold them but bought 2. Though one is huge Silver Lace Wyandotte hen and the other a lavendar silkie cockerel--Teegan

Gonna match him up with an odd partridge hen and the buffs for some very unusually colored birds this spring!

Thanks Shy! We're very excited. That's a pretty boy you came home with. Since I can have roos up there I plan on getting a bator and hatching some breeds that I've been eyeing for a long time. And I also want to get some Muscovys and Sebastopols.

That's good they're moving the swap down there. A little more room I would think. We'll be down Bromley Lane on the east side of 76 about a mile. It's built up so much across 76 over the past 10 years it's kind of a bummer. It used to smell so good out there in the mornings. Fresh country air

Lol, of course we are good! The last time we went we came home with three bunnies so this time we sat in the car and agreed to some basic rules before we got out

no rabbits, geese, ducks, quail or turkeys. only chickens. lol, the fact that we came home with four guinea fowl is irrelevant

and i know at least one of those is female because it made the distinctive female sound! i'm thinking three males and one female, but thats ok. we'll "get rid of" two of them, get some more females and call it happy!

So, here are some pics of our mysterious banty hens! Dunno what they are but I know I've seen a pic of something like them before. Any thoughts?

And here is a pic of momma making the babies all snuggly warm! We had six eggs under her, but I knew two wouldn't hatch because they were clear. just left them there to make sure, and to help keep the warmth in

Out of the other four, three hatched and one did not.

So are the guinea pretty noisy? They are pretty too, they blend with all the white stuff you got up there

More than we got down here and that's ok with me. I'm ready for spring
