Colorado

i am located in pueblo and i am looking for some roos. If anyone has any near by please let me know.

I am just South of Pueblo, and I have 2 Speckled Sussex and 1 Egyptian Fayoumi available. I should also have an extra Rhode Island Red or two available in the next month or so as they mature enough for me to know what I'm keeping. PM me if you want to know more or come down to see them. I'm right off exit 83.

I bet a bowl of chicken noodle soup. I have a SL Cochin roo and pullet that exact same age (3-1) and my roo's head looks just like yours. If I can find the charger I'll take some pictures of both of their heads. My roo does not have spur nubs, hasn't even attempted to crow but has been going through the breeding motions for about 2 weeks.
Guess I owe you a bowl of soup. The first crowing commenced at 6:30 this morning.......

I will try to contact the breeder I bought from and see if he wants him back or what????? If not I guess he is soup unless someone wants to claim him.

bummer.....

The breeder called is going to take back the rooster and replace him with a laying or almost laying hen!!!!!!

WOOT WOOT is right!!!

this made my day!!! Restores my faith in people a little more today!!

Now if I could just get a new egg, is that asking too much????

Out with the Roo and in with a 16 week bantam Wyandotte. My Wyandotte friends please give me the details of this pretty breed!!

Just an observation, so far, with my quail raising project so far. They hatched 7 days ago.
They drink a lot of water.
They have doubled in size in a week.
You must grind up their food for at least the first week, so far, as they are to small when hatched to eat the crumbles.
There are two different sizes of chicks after the first week. Large ones and small ones. I wonder if they can be sexed this way. Males larger and females smaller. Just a thought. I may band the larger ones and see if this turns out to be true.
So far not much more trouble that a chicken chick. everything is just smaller.
One of these guys likes to do a lot of talking. Its kind of like the sound of a cricket, just not as pronounced. its kind of a soothing sound. Almost like a long cooo coooo, coooo,
They sure are cute.
After 4 days they start to feather in a bit.
So far, I like the little guys.
I do need to modify the rabbit I picked up for them a bit. It needs a smaller door and smaller wire on the bottom of the cage area as their feet may fall through.

Interesting - sounds like picture time ... :)

Anyone have experience with ducks and chickens together? If I have a separate place for them to sleep and all are females (both the chickens and the ducks) will they be okay to mingle in our huge backyard?
They'll mingle just fine, in that if they're like my birds they'll stay mostly separate.
Mine even sleep in the same coop, just on different levels. No problems so far.

Week 22 and still no eggs (audible sigh). I guess I'm going to have to buy a dozen this week.
I went out of town for two days and anticipated that egg laying would commence while I was gone (just my luck), but I was wrong.

Generally egg laying happens when you take at least a three day vacation. Lol. It should be soon.
