Just an observation, so far, with my quail raising project so far. They hatched 7 days ago.
They drink a lot of water.
They have doubled in size in a week.
You must grind up their food for at least the first week, so far, as they are to small when hatched to eat the crumbles.
There are two different sizes of chicks after the first week. Large ones and small ones. I wonder if they can be sexed this way. Males larger and females smaller. Just a thought. I may band the larger ones and see if this turns out to be true.
So far not much more trouble that a chicken chick. everything is just smaller.
One of these guys likes to do a lot of talking. Its kind of like the sound of a cricket, just not as pronounced. its kind of a soothing sound. Almost like a long cooo coooo, coooo,
They sure are cute.
After 4 days they start to feather in a bit.
So far, I like the little guys.
I do need to modify the rabbit I picked up for them a bit. It needs a smaller door and smaller wire on the bottom of the cage area as their feet may fall through.
